Fenning Avenue Improvement Project Update
Monticello, MN. – Wright County’s road improvement project along Fenning Ave. in Monticello continues as the contractor works towards the completion of the roundabout. According to Wright County, most of the grading, curb and gutter, and utility work has been completed; apart from the north leg of the roundabout. The east and west legs were delayed due to recent rain days, but the contractor is working to have the roundabout open in the east-west direction for the first day of school on September 7. If the roundabout is not complete, school traffic will need to follow a detour. Once the east and west legs are done, the contractor will remove the bypass lane and begin construction on the north leg of the roundabout. Then, a new detour will be in place utilizing Chelsea Rd. and Edmonson Ave.
Along with the roundabout, the project includes road improvements on Fenning Ave. (County Highways 18 and 118) from School Blvd. to County Highway 37. The contractor will soon begin paving the roundabout and various segments of County Road 118. They will begin work on the area near Highway 37 in the coming weeks. Please adhere to the detour routes posted and give yourself extra time when commuting.
The City of Monticello, in cooperation with the County, is funding construction of a pathway along Fenning from School Blvd. and connecting to the existing pathway section near the Hillside Farm neighborhood. The pathway requires construction of a retaining wall near Monticello’s Montiview Park. The contractor has completed 90 percent of the retaining wall. It’s expected to be complete this week.
Additional information about the project can be found on the Wright County website.
