  • Leaves and grass clippings only
  • All bags must be emptied and removed
  • The compost facility is open to city residents only
  • No contractors
  • Please limit use of the facility to residents dumping loose loads from trailers or pickup trucks.

Access Code Information

The city’s leaf and grass compost facility is a locked facility that requires a code.

Contact the Public Works Office at 763-295-3170 for the access code to the lock or to be added to weekly email list with the code.

The compost facility is a benefit for residents; please don't share the code on social media. Instead, feel free to direct people to contact Public Works for access.

Compost Available

There are 2 bins of compost available for residents - one has wood chips and the other has composted material mainly used for gardens or to fill in spots in your yard.

We do not have black dirt, but the composted material will help your yard or garden grow. You are welcome to check on the availability by visiting the Monticello Maintenance Building, located at:
909 Golf Course Road
Monticello, MN 55362

Please come after hours so trucks entering and exiting the facility will not be in your way. Our hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4 pm.
