Wellhead Protection Program

Wellhead Protection prevents drinking water from becoming polluted. The program manages potential sources of contamination in the area that supplies water to a public well. Public health is protected and the expense of treating polluted water or drilling new wells is avoided through wellhead protection efforts.

The City of Monticello has developed a Wellhead Protection Plan in accordance with Minnesota Wellhead Protection Rule, Minnesota Rules, Parts 4720.5100 to 4720.5590.

The documents on this page include a map of our Drinking Water Supply Management Area (DWSMA), as well as Monticello's completed Wellhead Protection Plan Part 2.

We've also included several state and federal agencies' websites for more information. Please note, the city is not responsible for content on outside websites.
