Fenning Avenue (CR 118) Corridor Improvements

Wright County in cooperation with the City of Monticello is developing construction plans to reconstruct County Road 118 (Fenning Avenue) from Highway 37 to north of School Boulevard. The corridor is being reconstructed to improve the safety and mobility of all users and improve the existing infrastructure condition.

The corridor is going to be transformed from a primarily rural corridor to a combination of rural and urban. The rural section will extend from Highway 37 to 86th Street. The rural section will include wider shoulders and a softening of the existing curve north of Highway 37. An urban section with a concrete curb and gutter will be constructed from 86th Street to Spirit Hills Road.

The urban section will include the addition of a center, two-way left-turn lane and right turn lanes at select intersections. A trail will be added to the east side of the roadway in the urban section, as well. In order to accommodate the traffic at School Boulevard, a single-lane roundabout is proposed to replace the existing, all-way stop.

This project began June 21, 2021 and is closed to thru traffic. There will be three separate detour routes depending on the stage of work.  Access will be maintained to residents that live along the corridor.

See the Wright County website for schedule and details.
